I'm not a developer and have no idea what their policies are but will say I think it's a bit lame to have that double standard. If I was the cartoonist I wouldn't have resubmitted it. Or if I did it would have been a cartoon mocking the double standard of Apple.... I'd then blog about the whole experience. :D

We just need a new chip - g5, power4, what ever. We need a chip that can go head to head against the Wintel world and not rely on 2 processors to try and keep up (and even now, this isn't working)
Its very frustrating and I hope Apple will all make us happy sometime soon.

I Apple's QC is excellent by the way.
I disagree, I think with the iPhone QC has been relatively good but not at all on the iPad. The IPad 2's QC has been dreadful.

Yeah, I get to have my wisdom teeth out next Thursday, so it's anesthesia for me too!
Where do you people live that you get general anesthesia for wisdom teeth? I had all four of mine removed at the same time, and had to make do with 12 (4 by each tooth) shots of Novocain (local anesthetic) !!!! Then I got to listen as the dentist crunched the one that was coming in sideways and recessed so he could suction out the little pieces.

Incorrect assumption - as a result,
...your math is wrong.
60 psi is 60 psi, period. If the tire pressure in the truck is 60 psi, then the pressure on the road is 60 psi. You can't double the tire pressure and triple the pressure on the road as a result - you'd have a truck that either bounced, or sank. Newton's laws (net vertical force = 0 for no acceleration in the vertical direction) have to be met.
It doesn't matter if my math is wrong or my assumption about surface area is wrong. The simple fact remains that the tractor trailer has 14.666 times the weight of the car but only 4.5 times the number of tires of the car. Even if that means that factor of 3.25 is completely compensated by the tire in a ratio of 60/35, you're still applying roughly double the pressure over an area 3.25 times greater, 4.5 times as often.
(regarding PSI, while I think your assumption probably roughly holds, we also have to take into account the fact that as these tires have a different composition, they are also going to dissipate weight differently. Tractor trailer tires are not only larger, but they are also thicker. That means that there is more rubber in each tire to distribute force from the truck to the road. i.e. its tendency to deform as a result of weight applied is what affects its PSI. Consider an extreme example: A fictional monster truck tire almost completely rubber with a very small chamber inside the tire. If it is sufficiently small, you could even create a vacuum inside this chamber, and the structure of the tire could still handle the stress. So, regardless of the amount of fictional weight you placed on the tire, that chamber would still have a PSI of 0 because there's no actual gas to be pressurized. Thus, if the tractor trailer tire has more structural rigidity, a higher portion of its weight is directly applied to the road via the resistance of the tire to deformation from pressure.)

maybe if target dropped their pricing they wouldnt have this problem
As ITR 81 already mentioned, they are already often selling at below their cost to attract customers. They don't have any room to go lower unless the studios drop their prices.

I'm considering a Macbook Air in the next refresh, likely an 11 inch. It will be my first Mac in 13 years - I had one throughout high school, but switched to Windows for university. The MBA will be used as a second computer. What I'm hoping to see:
1. An SD slot for the 11 inch - I'm a blogger and would like to be able to upload pictures without the use of a converter or hooking my camera up to the computer
2. A lighter-weight machine - maybe down to 2 lb for the 11" and 2.5 lb for the 13"
I don't really care whether they bring back a backlit keyboard or not - I was taught to type without looking at the keyboard and have pretty much memorized where all the keys are.
What about you? How likely are we going to see lighter machines in the next refresh?

My apologies.
Ill explain what the link implied. The sarcastic joke that you posted is simply trite beyond belief, and as such I thought Id use similar methods of sarcasm to convey my thoughts on the matter. Now, the crux of my joke relies on the play of opposites (as your comment was anything but original) and meant to be informative. Im really sorry you didn't get my initial brevity, and Ill make sure to explain myself in full next time. Thanks so much, stay well:)
It is refreshing to see some intelligent wit on these boards every now and then. For that, I thank you sir.

iOS Expose could be an improvement to multitasking, maybe they need to wait for the A5 to have the power to make it work.
Why can't the A4 display the 9 screenshots, as per the video, it's hardly taxing?

I think you're misinterpreting my language - I mean "for the user that knows even the most basic amount about technology" the user experience is superior in my estimation.
Not the interpretation you seem to be reading into it that reads more like "anyone who doesn't agree with me is an idiot".
How does knowing something about tech make it a superior device? Are you basing it on something like a feature list? It is a highly inferior device because it is an inferior means of accomplishing the vast majority of tablet-related tasks as compared to the iPad. I'm not knocking Android by any meansit will continue to evolve and tablet offerings will improvebut in the tablet world it trails a considerable distance behind iOS and that is what matters most.
By no means. They're just struggling to evolve with the products they review. I agree that they're poorly suited to review some of these more technical devices and I think their methodology renders many such reviews released by them fairly useless, but they serve a valuable purpose, it would be a shame to see this type of service go away, and I can't see how they've become obsolete to many folks out there.

I'm debating on Pages personally, its too much like a word processor and tries to play a desktop publishing program all in one. I dont mind the UI with my 30" Apple display but it seems too hard to use if you want to start out with a blank document and create anything like they have in the pre-done templates. I was impressed with the demo at MacWorld 2005 that you could have an image and it would automatically wrap text around it and the templates look nice but all in all its very hard to use it to design anything useful.
Pages should stick to either being a desktop publishing program or a word processor.. not both.
There will always be Illustrator and InDesign.

The iPad 2 at $730 beat the xoom at $800? Ouch... Not that i trust CR so much, but even with a margin for error, this seems rather telling...
Ummm...no.
Consumer Reports was clearly pageview trolling with the iPhone 4.
They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?
Because, in their opinion, the iPhone 4's antenna was bad enough to make it bad at being a phone, which is its purpose, even though all the other parts of it were and still are amazing. However, they were completely wrong about that. Yes, maybe the reception gets worse when you touch that black spot, but I never leave the house without a case around it because the thing's expensive, so I never really got their point. That's why I tend to take CR with a grain of salt, but they did give it high ratings so... i guess you just have to read into their recommendations to get the full picture and decide for yourself.

You can teach them the value of a dollar if instead you give them an iTunes card and tell them its the only one there getting for X amount of time.
That is what I do with my brother. And I think this is a better method than using the allowance account. How many people get paid on the 1st anyway? It's usually the 15th.
The big problem with In-App purchasing is the fact that you can spend $0.99, but you also have the option of spending $100+. You could literally buy a new iPhone with that money, even food for a month. Those cards for like IMVU and Neopets that you can buy at the grocery store/Best Buy, DON'T go for more than $50. Same with Wii and Xbox Live.

Who rates this negative?
Unless I misread the report, basically all Target did was remind the studios that the DVD format is in jeopardy and they better get with the times or Target will. And if studios need Target and Wal-Mart to tell them that, they're in more trouble than I ever thought.
Assuming that studio execs have 1/2 a brain, then they must be well aware that the DVD format is obsolete. They must also recognize that digital distribution directly to computers (or TVs), is the one of the next delivery methods. Now, assuming they know this, they sure are doing a lousy job of offering us alternatives. Problem is, Hollywood's had it too good for too long. Complacency breeds laziness. Adapt or die. And it sounds like Target intends to adapt.
That said, the underlining message here is that (like it or not) companies like Apple are driving the distribution bus. We're witnessing a changing of the guard, so to speak. Which is the reason I rate this "rumor" a positive.
Now if we could just get the same kind of revolution in the mobile phone market...

The tea party is the republican party. There is NO tea party as third party. That's a complete fallacy. If they weren't a wholly owned faction of the Republican party, there would be tea party democrats too.
Pop quiz - name one tea party candidate who ran as a Democrat or name one elected official who claims to be a tea party member or supporter who doesn't vote with the Republicans.
I would disagree with that.
The Tea Party is to the GOP as the Blue Dogs are to the democrats.
Yes they are democrats but they are a sub group of them. Just the Tea Party GOP is a radical sub group of the GOP.

Surely a 'Made in USA' car is a thing to avoid? Big, no style, bad engines (huge capacity with no power), poor reliability, nasty plastics inside.
Get a european one, more reliable (VW, BMW, Mercedes, Audi) far far superior technology in the engines, safer and better for the environment, plus you pump money into our economy :p
Some really sexy cars: VW Scirocco, BMW 3 Series Coupe, Renault Megane Coupe, Audi TT, Volvo C30.... plus they will last for years!

Sheesh, these computer geeks never heard of acting? My friend knows an actor in a herpes drug commercial who doesn't have herpes but says he does in the ad (how awkward would that be!).
As nearly all of you know, Justin Long isn't responsible for what he says in the ad. C'mon, think about it, is he really a Mac computer? OK, I will admit that John Hodgman, the fellow playing the PC, said that he was a computer on The Daily Show....
Anyway, Long will do fine with his movie career, no doubt.
